Northeast Regional Autism Spectrum Disorder Network Coordinator — 2001- present The goal of my position is to build and enhance the capacity of Nebraska schools and families in supporting children across the autism disorders spectrum. I provide evidence based training and technical assistance to Nebraska educators in providing appropriate services to students across the autism spectrum from birth to age 21. Prior to my current position I worked in the state of Kansas and Nebraska serving students on the Autism Spectrum ages birth to 21. I worked with Parents and Districts to provide quality educational plans; transition plans and taught Life Skill classes to a variety of students with disabilities. Sonja attended Doane College in Crete, NE and received her Bachelors Degree in K-12 Special Education. She also attended Wayne State College and received her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She has presented numerous time in the State to Districts and parents on various topics concerning Autism as well as National Conferences. She has presented for the Council for Exceptional Children Conference (DCDT)-Albuquerque, New Mexico, 2005, the Nebraska State Autism Conference-2006-2014, OCALI AAPC Reception, How are we Zigging? Columbus Ohio, November 20th, 2008 and OCALI, The Nebraska ASD Network, Columbus Ohio, November 18th, 2010. She also did Action Research, ,” The Impact of Mentoring Programs On Teacher In-Services, Spring 2009. Sonja is also a Ziggurat Trained Trainer, 2009. Sonja is a member of the Autism Society of America, Autism Society of Nebraska, Nebraska State Education Association and Educational Service Unit Education Association. Sonjas' interests include studying behavior, communication intent and facilitation of community collaborative projects.
