Early Childhood

Welcome to the Early Childhood Department

Early Childhood/Intervention Services encompass a variety of programs available for children 0 through 5 years of age. The ESU7 Staff serves families in Butler, Colfax, Merrick, Nance, Platte and Polk counties at no cost to families. This program is funded publicly through your local school district.

Included is the services are evaluation, intervention, and program planning for children who are experiencing learning difficulties and/or development delays, based on verification requirements.

Educational services for children birth to 3 years of age are often provided in the home by early childhood personnel trained to work with young children. Appropriate intervention for children 3 to 5 years maybe provided in a variety of settings (i.e. Home, Childcare, Preschool, etc.)

The Early Intervention team is a group of 15 people and consists of Speech Pathologists, Early Childhood Special Education teachers, Vision teacher, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, School Psychologist, and Services Coordinators (birth to 3 years of age).

Mary's primary focus as the Early Childhood Coordinator for ESU7, is coordinating and assigning referrals for children, birth to 5, facilitating the weekly EC PAC meetings and assisting with the b-3 ILCD process.
